Holmes and his twin brother Derrick come to Rhody via Hargrove Military Academy in Hargrove, MA, as Joe Trainer picks up yet another pair of prep school recruits. Before enrolling at Hargrove, Holmes attended Nauset Regional High School in North Eastham, Massachusetts. Another star on both offense and defense, Holmes played running back for Nauset and set the school record with 24 rushing touchdowns in his senior season. He comes to the Rams with athleticism being his number one strength, so it will be interesting to see how the coaching staff uses him.
Speaking of the coaching staff, here’s what Joe Trainer had to say:
“We are recruiting Nathan as an athlete. He is athletic enough to be a linebacker, where he is a snotknocker-type of player. He’s also athletic enough to be a tight end, an H-Back or a fullback. He’s a very physical player. We believe he can help us right away, certainly on special teams and maybe on our two-deep come next fall.”
Holmes certainly seems like a player who can help the Rams in a lot of different areas. If he’s slotted in at linebacker, he’s likely the type that will be able to roam the secondary on one play and come up and stuff the run on the next. If he locks in at tight end, his speed and strength should be on display in both the running and passing games.
