Get ready, Rhode Island baseball fans. Starting tomorrow, things are about to get fun. The 2013 Atlantic 10 Baseball Tournament begins tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. in Charlotte, North Carolina, as the top seven teams in the conference get ready to play in some double-elimination action to determine this year’s A-10 champion. Here’s how the seeding breaks down, including each team’s record within the conference.
1. St. Louis Billikens (17-7)
2. Charlotte 49ers (17-7)
3. Rhode Island Rams (17-7)
4. Xavier Musketeers (16-8)
5. George Washington Colonials (15-9)
6. La Salle Explorers (15-9)
7. Richmond Spiders (13-11)
Due to the A-10’s tiebreaker procedures, Rhody locks in with the third seed despite claiming a share of the conference title. SLU gained the top seed which could loom large for them, as the #1 seed of the tourney gets a first round bye. So how does the full bracket shake down? Take a peek below:
Games 1-4 will be played tomorrow, with Xavier vs GW getting underway at 10:00 a.m., Charlotte and Richmond at 1:30 p.m., Rhody and La Salle at 5:00, and Game 4 (49ers/Spiders loser vs Rams/Explorers loser) at 8:30 p.m. The double-elimination format means one team will be going home tomorrow. All games will be played at Hayes Stadium in Charlotte. We’ll have a full preview of La Salle coming up tomorrow, but suffice it to say, we think URI has a great shot to go deep into this thing.
Now can it start, already?
