It’s not really a full preview of the roster until we look at the walk-ons, right? On a roster that was certainly lacking depth last season, Rhody’s three non-scholarship players were key to filling out depth on the bench. But with a ton of new faces fortifying the active players this year, we may not see guys like Jonathan Nazarko in games very often. Still, let’s take a look at what the junior can bring to the table.
- Appeared in seven games last season, logging seven minutes total for the year. We would classify each game as a “blow-out”, with only one of them resulting in a URI win.
- Nazarko attempted his first collegiate shot against St. Mary’s, playing one minute in an 82-59 Rhody loss.
- His only other shot attempt came in the second-to-last game of the season against St. Joseph’s. Nazarko logged a career-high in minutes with four and recorded the first steal of his career.
- Finished the season shooting 0-2 (0-1 from three) with one steal and one turnover.
So it wasn’t exactly a banner year for Nazarko, but he now has one full season under his belt. As the most senior of the three walk-ons, he could show some improvement in his second year on the team. And if he’s still only going to be playing exclusively in blow-outs, let’s hope most of them are wins this time around.
