Mike Aaman's URI Playing Career Over, Will Not Return to Rhode Island Basketball Team

Some news to report before this afternoon’s contest gets underway: Mike Aaman told reporters before the game that his URI playing days are over. Bill Koch (of College Chalktalk and the South County Independent) and Jack Andrade (of GoLocalProv) jointly reported the news via Twitter, and each compiled quotes from the Rhode Island sophomore. We’ll have more on that below. But in summary, Aaman has been told by doctors that his concussion history (seven total) has medically disqualified him from returning to game action. Aaman will stay enrolled at URI as a student, and hopes to have a role with the team in some capacity going forward.

Here’s a few snippets of what Aaman had to say, courtesy of Bill and Jack.

Obviously all the best goes out to Mike Aaman. Here’s hoping he gets well soon.
