Rhode Island Basketball: A Look at URI's Atlantic 10 Tournament Possibilities [UPDATED]

You likely know the drill by now. The Rhode Island Rams will be playing in Brooklyn on Thursday as part of the Atlantic 10 Tournament… but that’s kind of all we know so far. Well, we do know that Rhody will be either the 10 seed or the 11 seed, meaning they’ll play on Thursday at either 6:30 p.m. (10 seed) or 9:00 p.m. (11 seed). Who will they play? Here’s a look at the possibilities.

The Seeding

UPDATED: Saturday, 9:01 p.m.

With Duquesne’s 81-69 victory over George Mason, URI is now officially the 11 seed. They’ll play at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday night. The Rams and Dukes finish tied in the standings (5-11 in conference play), but Duquesne holds the tiebreaker thanks to their win over Rhode Island back on February 15. They’re the 10 seed, with GMU (12) and Fordham (13) facing off in the play-in game.

The First-Round Opponent

UPDATED: Saturday, 9:01 p.m.

With Rhode Island officially the 11 seed, it means they’ll face the 6-seeded squad on Thursday. Thanks to Dayton’s 60-48 victory over Richmond tonight, the 6 seed can now be either Dayton or UMass. Here’s what you need to know:

Dayton 6 seed if: UMass wins (vs Saint Louis)
UMass 6 seed if: UMass loses

George Washington is now off the table with their 70-67 win at Fordham today. Richmond is also not a possibility thanks to their loss to Dayton coupled with the Duquesne win. We’ll continue to update this post as results come in.
