Oak Hill Academy forward and current Rhody recruiting target Rokas Gustys will announce his school of choice “next week”, according to a report from SNY’s Adam Zagoria. When next week? Who knows. But we do know that URI is on the big man’s final list. From Zagoria:
The Lithuanian is considering Hofstra, Rhode Island, UAB and Tulane.
Gustys is currently visiting Hofstra and said he likes it.
Wherever he lands, he said he plans to bring: “1. Toughness for sure; 2. I am a winner. Every program I played won; 3. Great teammate on the court.”
For Ram fans not familiar with Gustys, he’s a 6’9″, 245-pound power forward from Kaunas, Lithuania. He’s currently a senior at Oak Hill Academy in Virginia, and has been receiving interest from more than just his final four. Charlotte, Rutgers, San Jose State, and Georgia were all in on Gustys, but he’s eliminated them from contention. Rokas completed his official visit to Rhode Island back on February 10, and it included the URI/UMass game at the Ryan Center.
And, of course, the Rams could use him. With Jordan Hare‘s status still without updates, Rhody could certainly use some depth in the front court. Hassan Martin, Gilvydas Biruta, and Ifeanyi Onyekaba are all still in the mix, and adding Gustys to that trio would really solidify a lot of things for URI.
So who will he pick? It’s something we’ll be watching very closely next week.
