While fans are most likely focused on one particular recruit, Dan Hurley and his staff have a few more irons in the fire. One of those irons comes in the form of 6’7″ JuCo Jeremiah Ingram. The Detroit native (more on that in a bit) was on campus Thursday for an official visit. Jack Andrade of GoLocalProv was the first to report the news via Twitter, and Ingram confirmed it himself with a tweet of his own.
Really enjoying myself out here in Rhode Island.

Ingram is a 2012 graduate of Southfield-Lathrup High School, and he’s currently playing at Colby Community College in Kansas. He had initially signed with San Jose State back in December, but he has since been released from his NLI.
Now onto the nitty gritty. First, a 6’7″ shooting guard?!? Yes… kind of. Ingram is billed as both a shooting guard and a small forward, and that kind of versatility is huge, especially when the Rams have just two open scholarships left. In 26 games with Colby this season, Ingram averaged 19.9 points and 8.7 rebounds per game on a, uh… pretty bad team. The Trojans went 9-23 on the season, including an 0-8 mark in conference play.
And yes, Ingram is from Detroit, so it’s pretty safe to assume that he was a Preston Murphy recruit. But Dan Hurley and the URI staff has stayed on him, culminating in his official visit on Thursday. Can they close the deal? We’ll know in about a week and a half – the deadline for recruits to sign is May 21.
