The summer is a crazy time in the world of basketball recruiting. This summer, we’ve seen news about transfers, JuCos, 2015 recruits… and now 2016 recruits. Rhode Island is in on 2016 point guard Kellan Grady, and based on a few recruiting videos, that doesn’t appear to be a bad idea.
Much like Terance Mann, Grady is a local kid. The 6’1″ point guard hails from West Roxbury, MA, and he currently attends Catholic Memorial High School. He’s also part of the New England Playaz AAU team, a squad that has cranked out some solid players in the past.
Oh, and he’s visiting URI tomorrow, per a tweet from the aforementioned AAU team.

Grady is currently hearing from a number of local (and not-so-local) schools, including Syracuse, Villanova, Northeastern, Fairfield, Temple, SMU, and Texas. It’s impossible to be sure, obviously, but there’s no report that any school, including URI, has offered the rising high school junior.
Perhaps that will all change tomorrow. One thing is for sure – at only 15- or 16-ish years old, Grady is already a player. He can drive, he can shoot, and he’s extremely athletic. Unfortunately, there’s still a looooong way to go before we see anything go down with Grady’s recruitment. But it’s certainly something to keep an eye on in the meantime.
