The 2014 NBA Draft has come and gone. And, not surprisingly, no players from the Atlantic 10 were selected. But that doesn’t mean we’re going to see a mass exodus of A-10 talent to Europe. On the contrary, it’s far from over for several players in terms of their chance to play in The League. Guys like VCU’s Juvonte Reddic and Saint Joseph’s Ronald Roberts will no doubt get an invite from an NBA team. But Rhody fans are much more interested in their own Xavier Munford, so let’s take a look at his options.
Munford worked out for several NBA teams in advance of the draft, including the Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers. So there’s at least two teams that have seen what the former URI standout can do. And while the Summer League is no guarantee of landing a roster spot – or even a D-League spot – it could be great exposure for Munford.
So now we wait. The 2014 NBA Summer League kicks off on July 5 in Orlando, with games there running from the 5th through the 11th. The second session runs from July 11-21 in Las Vegas. So we should hopefully be hearing some news soon as Munford looks to continue his basketball career.
