While we wait for an official word concerning other matters, the 2014 Rhode Island football schedule was announced this afternoon. URI’s opponents could have been seen on GoRhody.com for the past month or so, but the CAA confirmed the final schedule this afternoon. So who’s on the slate? Here’s a look:

2014 Rhode Island Rams Football Schedule

September 6 at Marshall

September 13 at Fordham

September 20 vs Albany

September 27 at CCSU

October 4 vs Brown

October 11 at Villanova

October 18 at Richmond

October 25 vs Maine

November 1 at Delaware

November 8 vs New Hampshire

November 15 at Stony Brook

November 22 vs Towson

This year’s schedule doesn’t look all that different from Rhody’s 2013 slate. Five home games, seven road games. Non-conference match-ups against Fordham, Central Connecticut, and Brown. Pretty standard, right?

The new wrinkle is this year’s “buy” game, and it’s an intriguing one. The Rams will head to West Virginia to face off against the Marshall Thundering Herd, a very solid BCS team coming off a 10-4 season and a win in the Military Bowl. It should be a difficult, yet good test for Rhody to start their 2014 campaign.

Also of note: must like last season, URI doesn’t really have a bye week this year. Last year, their “bye” was the final week of the season, which is to say they didn’t really have a week off at all. This year it’s more of the same, as their bye comes in the first week of the season. So much for a week off to break up a long string of games.

So what’s everyone thinking about these 12 games? Let us know in the comments!
