Football Recruiting: LB Perry Schrader Signs LOI With Rhode Island

The Rhode Island Rams received a signed commitment from linebacker Perry Schrader today as part of National Signing Day. The signing was first announced via URI football’s official Twitter account.

Here’s everything you need to know about the newest addition to Rhody’s linebacking corps:

Hometown: Virginia Beach, VA
High School: Frank W. Cox High School
Position: LB
Height: 6’3″
Weight: 205 lbs
Twitter: @PearSchrader

Obviously one of the biggest holes that the Rams needed to fill this offseason was the loss of Andrew Bose. And while it’s way too early to say Schrader (or anyone, really) can replace him, building up depth in that area is key.

And Schrader looks to be the same type of linebacker. He’s a run-stopper who can get into the backfield, blow up plays, and disrupt opposing offenses. The numbers speak for themselves: half of Schrader’s solo tackles in his senior season were for losses.
