Rhode Island vs St. Thomas Aquinas

7:00 p.m.

Ryan Center, Kingston, RI

You guys. There’s a Rhody basketball game tonight.

Okay, so it’s not a game that counts. But still. The Rhode Island Rams will face off against D-II’s St. Thomas Aquinas in an exhibition game at the Ryan Center. This one won’t count in the standings, and it isn’t more than a warm-up for the real season opener a week from tonight. That said… WHEEEEEE!

And D-II? Nice, we’ll get to see URI knock this team around for 40 minutes. Just earlier this week, St. Thomas Aquinas took on St. John’s, so let’s check to see how badly they got lit up!

Oh.

So, uh… STAC beat St. John’s by 32 on Wednesday night. Yeesh.

But as fun as it is to pick on the Johnnies out of the mighty Big East, D-I teams falling to their D-II counterparts is becoming a thing this week. Murray State fell to a Division II team last night. Auburn and Clemson needed overtime to knock off their D-II foes. And a host of other schools have won by just 10 points or less.

Still, the St. John’s result — if not the list of others — should serve as a wake-up call for Rhode Island. The Spartans will be no pushover this evening. Don’t expect Rhody to hold anything back.

Because this one’s only an exhibition, there’s no TV, no radio, and no live stream for tonight’s 7:00 p.m. contest. It’s Ryan Center or bust — click here for (less expensive than normal) tickets.
