The Rhode Island Rams also bolstered their running back corps this afternoon, adding RB Deshawn Collins as part of National Signing Day 2016.
Yes, URI has landed a lot of defensive players and big offensive lineman today, but they’ve also added more than a few guys at skill positions. The latest in that category is running back Deshawn Collins, who joins Rhode Island as part of National Signing Day 2016. Here’s the tweet from Rhody football.

Here’s more on the newest Ram RB.
Hometown: Sacramento, CA
High School: Grant Union High School
Weight: 195 lbs
If Collins immediately reminds you of Harold Cooper, he should. Both he and URI’s top running back have the same build, the same bruising style, and the same elusiveness. And that’s perfectly fine. Despite popular opinion, there’s no rule that says you need one speed guy and one power guy to be successful. Plus, with Rhode Island’s second-leading rusher (Markey Clarke) tallying just 120 yards last season, the Rams could definitely use some depth help. Collins appears to be just that.
Check out some of his highlights.
