Rhode Island vs George Washington: Rams to Face Colonials in Elimination Game

Rhode Island baseball will look to stave off elimination tonight when they face George Washington in their second game of the Atlantic 10 Championship.

It’s do or die time for Rhode Island baseball. The two-seeded Rams will square off against four seed George Washington tonight in the Atlantic 10 Tournament in Saint Louis. And with both teams carrying one loss into tonight’s action, the loser will be heading home. Here’s a quick look at the Colonials.

GW comes into tonight’s game at 31-26 (14-10) on the year and 1-1 so far in the A-10 Tourney. George Washington downed five seed Saint Louis 6-1 yesterday, then fell to VCU 9-4 earlier this afternoon. URI took two of three from the Colonials when the two teams met in Arlington, Virginia earlier this season.

The probable starters for tonight’s matchup are:

Vitaly Jangols (URI) vs Robbie Metz (GW)

Jangols has starred in his freshman year for Rhody, going 6-1 — including a ‘W’ over GW earlier in the season. Meanwhile, Metz checks in at 0-3 as the Colonials third starter, and he fell to URI earlier this season despite pitching pretty well (6.1 innings pitched, three runs). Rhody will be hoping to touch up the junior righty a little more this time around.

Tonight’s Rhode Island baseball game vs GW will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m. EST. You can follow along with all the live stats here.
