2017 NIT Season Tip-Off Schedule Released: Rams Will Face Seton Hall on Thanksgiving

The Rhode Island Rams will officially open the 2017 NIT Season Tip-Off against Seton Hall. URI will meet the Pirates on Thanksgiving in Brooklyn.

Following some reports about the schedule that hit Twitter in the past few days, the official bracket for the 2017 NIT Season Tip-Off was released today. We already knew that Rhody would be in the Brooklyn-based tourney this year, but the exact slate was unknown. Until now.

URI will take on the Seton Hall Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on November 23rd at the Barclay’s Center. Yep, that’s Thanksgiving for those without a calendar handy. And if you’re not headed to Brooklyn, you can catch the game on ESPNU as you let that turkey digest. Virginia and Vanderbilt will play the first game of the day at 4:00 p.m., also on ESPNU. The two winners will play each other for the championship on Friday the 24th, although a start time for that one has not been announced yet. The two losers will also play on Friday in a consolation game.

The Seton Hall draw presents a few different story lines for the Rams. First and foremost, SHU is the alma mater of Rhode Island head coach Dan Hurley. Rhody has also faced the Pirates once in the Dan Hurley era, and it was again part of an in-season tournament. The Hall downed URI 60-55 back in 2012 as part of the Hall of Fame Tip Off at Mohegan Sun.

Tickets for the NIT Season Tip Off go on sale on August 1st at both barclayscenter.com and ticketmaster.com.
