2018 NBA Draft: E.C. Matthews Works Out with Brooklyn Nets
The workout news keeps rolling in for Rhody alums. URI guard E.C. Matthews worked out with the Brooklyn Nets last week ahead of the 2018 NBA Draft.
As was the case with Hassan Martin last season, Rhody’s seniors are getting looks from more than a few NBA squads. It’s been hard to keep up, and it’s only going to get crazier as the 2018 NBA Draft draws closer. But here’s another one. E.C. Matthews worked out for the Brooklyn Nets last week, per a report. The exact date is unknown, but news of the workout didn’t hit Twitter until this week. NetsDaily.com was one of the sites to put it out there.
So the new names reportedly worked out by Nets last few days: So the new names are: Notre Dame PG Matty Farr, Seton Hall swingman Desi Rodriguez, Kansas State SG Barry Brown, Rhode Island SG E.C Matthews and Arizona C Dusan Ristic

This was E.C.’s second workout (that we know of) as he also worked out for the Knicks last week. As we mentioned in that piece, it’s unlikely that Matthews will be drafted next month, but that doesn’t mean much. The Michigan native is getting some eyeballs on him, which will be key as Summer League, training camp, and undrafted free agent contracts come into play.
Of course, we’re a long way away from that stuff right now. E.C.’s going to keep putting in work, however, and we’ll see where he lands. The 2018 NBA Draft will take place on June 21st.
